Staffed by Our Outstanding Musicians
As part of the Great Lakes Wind Symphony we offer several chamber groups and other ensembles. These include our jazz band, jazz combo, percussion ensemble, brass quintet and woodwind quintet.

The Prometheus Percussion Group
The Prometheus Percussion Group is composed of our members of our percussion section who perform in concert and for educational outreach. The group goes back over 30 years to when GLWS founders and partners Adam Brennan and Ryan Pritchard formed the group at Mansfield University. Currently the group gives concerts through the Meet the Performer Series where they perform ensemble and solo literature, including concert and jazz percussion, Mexican Marimba music, and more.
The Erie Jazz Combo
In keeping with the GLWS, five musicians create a wonderful jazz combo performing the standards and named after one of the famous American Great Lakes. Features vocalist Wendy Griffin and others in the combo with saxophones covered by Eric Griffin. Pianist is the incomparable Gary Citro, Bassist Conrad Mailleue, and drummer Adam F. Brennan. Whether being showcased on the Meet the Performer series, playing for educational outreach, or just gigging in the community, the Erie Jazz Combo is a joy to hear!

The Superior Brass Quintet
The Superior Brass Quintet features five of the GLWS Brass section performers, including two trumpets, horn, trombone or euphonium, and tuba. The music performed is reflective of the mission of the GLWS and is always entertaining and family friendly. The Quintet is highly experienced and performs regularly for the GLWS Meet the Performer Series as well as for educational outreach programs.

The Huron Woodwind Quintet
The Huron Woodwind Quintet brings their unique sound and personalities to the performance stage with a wide variety of music to please any audience. Our GLWS members fill out the group with flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon, though the group sometimes expands to include other "friends." Whether they are booked for special events, showcased at a Meet the Performer event, or doing the educational outreach work of the GLWS, the Huron Woodwind Quintet is a group you don't want to miss.

The GLWS Jazz Studio Orchestra

The GLWS Jazz Studio Orchestra features eighteen musicians in typical instrumentation of today's modern jazz bands. Performing the best of the standards and modern American composers, the Jazz Studio Orchestra promotes this uniquely American music form through concerts, educational outreach and clinics, and more.
