Music Camps
The Great Lakes Wind Symphony is proud to announce our Affiliate Educational Music Camps coming in the Summer of 2027. The Summer Winds Music Camps are help Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00 pm, making drop off and pick up easy for working families. More than that, our camps are very affordable. Campers bring their own bagged lunch and we provide snacks and beverages twice each day, and each day is packed with musical activity and learning! We will eventually offer four camps but will launch with our Youth Music Camp, Percussion Camp, and Band Camp. Check below for more specific camp information!

Youth Music Camp
Ages 9-13 June 21-25
Whether you are an absolute beginner or you have a special connection and some experience in music, the Youth Music Camp is a great place to learn and gain a variety of experiences. All campers will sing in a camp chorus, participate in a music theatre review, explore instruments like guitar, ukulele, percussion, and piano. Fun activities will keep you involved throughout the day. Drop off is no earlier than 8:30 am and pick up is no later than 5:15 pm. Bring family and friends to a closing Review Performance on Friday at 5:15 pm!
Seats are limited to just 45 campers and the ratio of teacher to camper is 1:7. All Faculty are certified music educators and performers. Percussion Extravaganza!
Ages 9-18
June 28-July 2
Percussion is the versatile art form, and if you love to drum you want to spend your week with the Summer Winds Percussion Camp. The 2027 offering will feature learning about what it is like to be in each part of a drum line. We'll build our rudimental technique, study mallet instruments, experience playing in the bass drum, mutli-tenor, cymbal, pit, and snare drum segments. We'll have you drumming all day in this percussion extravaganza!
Join Us on Friday at 5:15 pm for a closing Demonstration by all the campers. Seats are limited to just 45 campers and the ratio of teacher to camper is 1:7. Summer Winds Band Camp
Ages 13-18, July 5-9
Give your camper the experience of a lifetime with this performance-intensive summer music camp for all band instruments. Seating is limited to 65 musicians who are entering or who are currently in high school.
Directed by one of the finest and most respected conductors in the United States, your campers will experience how to make a performance soar as they explore musical meaning and expression. All staff are certified music teachers and performers.
In addition, all students will have masterclasses to promote their musical and technical growth, and they will even have a daily conducting class to see what it is like on the other side of the podium.

Come explore the art of jazz and all it's excitement! Study basic improvisation methods and enjoy master classes, big band performance, working in combos, daily sectionals, and rhythm section interaction.Our goal will be to build three full jazz bands based around age and ability levels. Seats will be open to 15 saxophones, 15 trombones, fifteen trumpets, six pianists, six bassists, and six drum set players.As with all our camps, our faculty will be fully certified, professional educators and performers and our supervision ration will be one staff member to every seven students.
